Physical Science: BRHS 300 & 310 (honors)

This course will introduce students to QUANTITATIVE, evidence-based physical science, with a heavy emphasis on laboratory investigations. The content of the course includes basic chemistry and physics, with specific applications to the universe and Sun. The course follows the Ohio model curriculum that will be implemented fully in 2014. The course also covers the process of science, including the scientific method and the collection and analysis of data. Mathematics is “the language of science”, so basic math skills are reviewed and new skills are introduced.

Honors students will cover the material at an accelerated rate in order to accommodate additional topics, including mathematical tools like vectors and statistics, and will complete an independent research project.
